TheHunter: Call of the Wild Wiki

"The Eurasian lynx is a medium-sized cat native to northern and central Asia and northern and eastern Europe. It's the largest species of lynx with males weighing in between 18 - 45 kg (40 - 99 lb) and females between 8 - 21 kg (18 - 46 lb). During summer, the Eurasian lynx has a relatively short, reddish or brown coat. in winter this is replaced by a much thicker coat of silky fur that varies from silver-grey to greyish brown. The fur is almost always marked with black spots. Lynxes are very powerful ambush predators and have been known to take prey many times their size, including adult reindeer weighing to at least 150 kg (330 lb) although hares are the mainstay. In some parts of their distribution roe deer may become the main prey species for this cat species. Lynxes are solitary throughout most of the year, are typically active during the night and keep to mountain or coniferous forest areas where there is plenty of cover available. They have great eyesight and excellent hearing and avoid humans whenever possible which makes them challenging to hunt."

    Trivia[]

    • The Lynx name possibly derives from the Greek word for bright leukos. This could be a reference to how "bright" their eyes shine when light hits them.
    • It is one of several animals in game to have their drink times removed after the release of Revontuli Coast (Medved Only). The reasoning for the Lynx losing its drink zone is unclear. However, it's possibly based off the fact that felines in harsh climates (deserts, frozen tundra, ext.) do not need to drink; they get most of their water from the meat they eat.
