Patch 1.52 (18 February 2020)

Scoring 2.0/TruRAC Water Buffalo)

Hello Hunters,

Please see the full change list for today's update below:

New Features

  • TruRACs for Water Buffalo
  • Introduction of Animal Scoring 2.0
  • Overhaul of Black Bear and Grizzly Bear animations

Animal Scoring 2.0

One of the biggest changes with the new animal scoring system, is that integrity has been replaced with a system of classes. Every species has been assigned an animal class, and ammunition is now permitted for a specified range of classes.

For example : Whitetail Deer is a class 4 animal European Bison is a class 9 animal .243 ammunition is allowed for classes 2,4,3,4,5 and 6. Therefore, .243 ammo can be used to hunt Whitetail Deer, but not European Bison.

Medals are now awarded based on the trophy rating of the harvested animal and the result of the harvest check, a set of 4 conditions you need to meet when shooting an animal. Failing to do so will result in a reduced medal rank.

The trophy rating is entirely dependent on the trophy of the animal : horns, antlers, weight, etc. and the scoring method is unique to each individual species.

All details regarding the new animal/weapon classes can be found in the in-game UI, just check your Codex.

Patch 1.45 (18 September 2019)

[High-Tech Hunting Pack] - Out Now!

We are happy to announce that the new “High-Tech Hunting Pack” is now being rolled out across all platforms! It is available for purchase on PC, and the patch will be available on consoles before the end of the week. On consoles, the DLC is currently going through the certification process with both Sony and Microsoft, we expect it to be available before the end of September and as soon as we have a firm date we will be sure to let everyone know. Just to repeat, consoles still get the patch which includes, TruRACS for Roe Deer and all bug fixes, it is the purchasable DLC that is delayed.

We always aim to release new content simultaneously on all platforms. This time around, we decided to roll out the PC version early (along the patch on consoles) in order to move forward quicker in development. We have more exciting things coming in this year and it will be big. Rolling out the patches earlier helps us to better control the upcoming content. We don’t plan to repeat this for the next release.

We have also temporarily disabled the leaderboards in order to get them working properly and improve them. We expect to have these back up and running with the next release.

HIGH-TECH HUNTING PACK - UNPACKED GenZero 8X50 Night Vision Binoculars Watch the reserves come to life at night through the Night Vision binoculars, designed to increase both visibility and contrast in the dark while leaving depth perception and shapes unaltered. From the largest of predators to the smallest of prey, all animals near you will have a hard time hiding from your keen gaze.

GenZero 1-4x20 Night Vision Rifle Scope Featuring a high-quality image intensifier tube, a compact design and waterproof battery compartment, the GenZero 1-4x20 Night Vision Rifle Scope will allow you to see beyond the expected in night-time conditions. A long-range IR illuminator completes the package allowing you to acquire your targets from safe distances; but be aware that the effectiveness of this technology is particularly affected by fog and adverse weather conditions

Koter CB-65 Bow With performance that lies in the sweet spot between the Bearclaw Lite CB-60 and the Hawk Edge CB-70, the Koter CB-65 is a versatile compound bow, useful in every situation. Striking a delicate balance between recoil and accuracy, this bow is at its best when hunting medium sized game, but can also be deadly accurate against small and big game, when paired with the right arrows.

Brightsight Rangefinder Bow Sight & Tracer Arrows This sight helps hunters overcome the biggest challenge when bow-hunting: distance estimation. With the single press of a button, the Brightsight calculates the distance of the target and projects a precise, virtual LED pin that is only visible to the archer, without the clutter of multiple physical pins.

At night, the Tracer Arrows will allow you to track down your prized harvest once you’ve made that first successful shot, thanks to a flashing red LED on the nock. In the off chance your prey manages to escape, you can simply follow the red light to its source and take the animal down

Patch 1.43 (2 August 2019)

Hi all,

We are in the process of deploying a small hot-fix to yesterdays release. Please see the change below:

  • Fixed issue with TRURACS antlers not being created correctly.

Note: Although no new instances of incorrectly scored (1000+) animals will be generated, some will remain on your map until they have been hunted. Once these have been harvested they will be removed from your animal population permanently. This is a route that is being taken to avoid us performing a population reset if at all possible.

Undocumented Patch

Patch 1.36 (3 June 2019)

The Treestand and Tripod Pack is now live!

Hello Hunters,

We are pleased to announce that the Treestand and Tripod Equipment Pack is now live!

The Treestand and Tripod Pack is an optional paid DLC ($3.99/€3.99 or local equivalent) that allows you to take on an entirely new perspective on hunting from the raised position of dedicated stands. https://store.steampowered.com/app/1076850/theHunter_Call_of_the_Wild__Treestand__Tripod_Pack?snr=1_2108_9__2107

For full details please read our patch notes below:

New Features

New Equipment: Treestand The staple of a patient hunter, the Deployable Treestand allows you to bide your time until the perfect opportunity to catch the animal unaware. Check your environment for a fitting tree for your ambush, place your stand at an appropriate height and climb up to your new perch. You can also easily adjust and replace it if you are unhappy with your initial placement. Once you’re ready, sit back, relax and watch as you await the opportunity to take that perfect shot. Additionally, it reduces your impact on your surroundings, reducing hunting pressure significantly. There are three different variations available, upon purchase of the “Treestand & Tripod Pack” DLC you will find one of each in your-in-game storage. Additional stands can be purchased with in-game currency up to a total of 32 Treestands per reserve.

New Equipment: Tripod Stand With a 360° rotation capability, the deployable Tripod Stand allows you a better vantage point even when there are no trees around. The Tripod Stand is an excellent way to gain an overview of your surroundings and allows you to spot animals from a much greater distance. On top of that, they will keep you concealed, are lightweight and easy to deploy and lowers your hunting pressure on your environment. As with Treestands there are three different variations available, one each of which you will find in your in-game storage after purchasing the DLC, likewise you may have up to 32 total Tripod Stands per reserve.

When owning the DLC, visit the closest storage where you can find one Treestand and one Tripod Stand of each variation. Drag them into your backpack and equip them in your inventory. Just like with previous deployables, equip the Treestand or Tripod and you will see a “ghost” model in white if your placement is valid or in red if not. For Treestands, having it equipped will highlight valid trees in your vicinity, aim at a highlighted tree for higher or lower placement and walk around the tree to change the direction it faces.

New Feature: Reduced Hunting Pressure When in Hunting Structures All hunting structures now create drastically less hunting pressure to better support stationary hunting.

New Feature: TruRACS Introduced to Roosevelt Elk

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed issue where pre-TruRACS Whitetail and Blacktail racks were no longer visible in trophy lodges

Patch 1.35 (7 May 2019)

No trophy will look like the other any more with more than 1 million variations per species. This update introduces TruRacs for Whitetail and Blacktail deer. More animals will be added over time.

New Feature: TruSCORE The Harvest Screen now features information about your trophy and explains the scoring. All factors are explained for you to understand the calculation behind every trophy so you can scout for these factors when spotting new animals.

Patch 1.34 (12 April 2019)

Hello Hunters,

We just released a small patch to address issues that some of you are experiencing regarding vegetation or visual assets not loading correctly.

We continue to read your feedback, look at your amazing Trophy Lodges and keep working on fixing issues and improving the game.

Patch 1.33 (11 April 2019)

Trophy Lodge Update

Here are the notes for today's Patch!

New Feature: Trophy Lodge - Spring Creek Manor

Showcase your best animals in your very own Trophy Lodge. Plaques and full body mounts of different sizes allow you to present your harvests in a variety of different poses. Invite your friends to your Trophy Lodge or travel to theirs in Single and Multiplayer. When in a reserve, open the Pause Menu, navigate to the new “Trophy Lodge” Button in the left navigation strip. Create a new Trophy Lodge from the available Lodges - Spring Creek Manor being the first available lodge. Select the newly created Trophy Lodge and “Go to Lodge” in order to travel there. Once in your lodge, you can switch between “Edit” and “View” mode and can follow the on-screen controls.

Please note that creating a Trophy Lodge requires ownership of the Trophy Lodge DLC. You can travel to other player’s lodges without owning the DLC. Once a Trophy Lodge is created but the ownership is revoked, you can still travel to your created lodge but access to the Edit mode is denied until ownership is restored.

New Feature: Trophy Manager

When harvesting an animal, you are now able to taxidermize or save it for later. Taxidermy comes with a cost but you can save the animal for later taxidermy. When in the Trophy Lodge, you can access your Trophy Manager to taxidermize saved animals, retrieve already put up animals or simply browse your collection.

Trophy Manager, Taxidermy or saving animals does not require any additional ownership and is granted with access to the base game.

Patch 1.29 (5 February 2019)

Lion Release

Avuxeni Hunters! We are excited to announce that today marks the release of our latest addition to Vurhonga Savanna, the Lion!

The efforts you've made under Grandfather Njabulo's guidance have borne fruit once again after the gemsbok, as Vurhonga now gets its lions back. In addition to being Vurhonga's first carnivore, it is also Call of the Wild's first ever Apex Predator. They're nomadic, prideless African lions that have been introduced into the savanna to mark their territory and give players a new challenge in the open plains of central Vurhonga. The lions of Vurhonga, much like real lions, are curious animals. They haven't been exposed to humans and don't see them as prey but as invaders. Occasionally, when a lion senses you as a threat to its life or territory, it will approach and confront you. During a confrontation, its objective is to either scare you off or kill you and your actions will determine the odds of your survival...

This update also contains a long list of bug fixes as well as a rework of spinal cords. Given that some animals (like buffalo and bison) have very large vertebrae (spinal cord), spine shots were the easiest way to down them. With this update, the spinal cord is separated out as an own “organ” to come closer to a realistic and ethical hunting experience. Vertebrae shots are higher damage shots than other bones, but they are no longer instant kills. Also, to make vital organs more viable, such as double lung shots, we have increased the time threshold for Quick Kill Bonus from 5 to 8 seconds.

You can read more about the Lion on our Steam Store page, or find the full Lion update content summary and the patch notes below: https://store.steampowered.com/app/1011280/theHunter_Call_of_the_Wild__New_Species_2019?snr=1_2108_9__2107

Patch Notes

New Animal - Lion (free)

New Features:

  • New Species - Lion on Vurhonga Savanna
  • New Feature - Confrontation with Apex Predator
  • Spinal Cord rework - tweaked and balanced damage values for spinal cord organ

Bug Fixes and Game Improvements:

  • Reduced Puma population
  • Fixed an issue where Pumas entered the chasing state with no target
  • Fixed an issue with the mission "Duck Decoys" in Parque Fernando where players could not place duck decoys at the specified location
  • Fixed achievement/trophy for Paleontology 101 (Medved-Taiga).
  • We have a fix for players who have been blocked from completing this achievement. Unfortunately, there was an issue with collectibles being unintentionally half-collected and not having the correct data saved. In order to make this fix work retroactively for our blocked players, we needed to do a soft reset of progress for all players. Players do not need to recollect fossils they have already found, they simply need to be within 450m of the location of a collected fossil for it to be counted. We're very sorry for any hassle. We know this is not the ideal solution, but we are happy to be able to fix this long-standing issue for our players.
  • Fixed Shot-For-Shot Achievement, Carolina's Greatest Hits
  • We also have a fix for players blocked from completing this achievement. In short, players who completed targets in multiplayer would not receive credit for their completion of a target challenge and would be blocked from completing the achievement. Similar to the Paleontology 101 fix, in order to make this fix work retroactively for our blocked players, we needed to do a soft reset of progress for all players. Players do not need to redo challenge they have already completed, they simply need to be within 450m of the completed challenge target.
  • Fixed issue with Patagonian unlocks for .44 and .338 going invisible after a player quits the game
  • Rebalanced spawning of rare animal variations for animals in Parque Fernando
  • Puma trophy is now showing the correct color variation
  • Fixed an issue with game crashes when harvesting a puma
  • The cabinet in the Parque Fernando hunting lodge outpost building no longer lacks collision

Hello Hunters!

It’s an exciting day today!

We are pleased to announce that the new mallard duck update, as well as its accompanying paid DLC, is now live on PC! The ducks are added for everybody to hunt for free while the additional gear is an optional DLC purchase.

The mallard duck is the latest animal addition to Layton Lake, and also our first flying and waterfowl species! Patch 1.23 (5 September 2018)

Patch 1.23 Thank you all very much for hunting in Vurhonga Savanna!

The first patch is ready and addresses some of your feedback!

A new Snort Wheeze caller will help to lure in the animals in Vurhonga, Lesser Kudu, Springbok and Blue Wildebeest. The animal populations of Springbok, Lesser Kudu and Warthog have been increased while animal senses of Lesser Kudu, Springbok, Blue Wildebeest and Scrub Hare have been tuned down to levels similar to the other reserves. Additionally the Wild Boar caller will now also attract Warthog without additional skill needs.

The price of both ammunition and the 470DB KING itself have been reduced and we are looking at possibilities what to do for players who already bought the rifle.

And finally the last big point: settings for manual reload / chambering as well as track colors now save correctly and there is an improved mix for audio (crickets, cicada and more).

As always, please let us know what you think and how this changes the Savanna for you.

Patch 1.20.2 (14 June 2018)

Hi,

We’ve just released a new patch and it addresses more crash fixes as well as the issue of not being able to place decoys.

We noticed spamming messages from Hunt Club and have done a full restart of the service. This should fix the spam and we will monitor it further. The downtime is expected to be 5 - 10 minutes. Your actions during this time should still count for Hunt Club activities as long as you are logged in.

We continue to work on issues related to Geese behaviour. This includes synchronizing health via network, Geese getting stuck and more. Additional crash fixes and the solution for key mappings not saving correctly is on the way too and should be available in the next patch.

Let us know how the patch works for you and stay tuned for more info on what’s coming next.

theHunter: Call of the Wild Team

Patch 1.20.1 (13 June 2018)

Hey all,

Before anything else we want to start this update by saying - thank you for playing theHunter: Call of the Wild, for your ongoing support, for sending in bug reports, for giving feedback and for openly talking about the pros and the cons of our game - it’s all of great help to us, not just in the present but also going forward, as we continue to build and expand upon our hunting universe.

Yesterday’s release was not on par with yours, or our, expectations so we wanted to give you an update on what we are currently doing.

A new patch has been released to address crash fixes. This patch will not fix all crash issues but should be a step in the right direction.

Stability and fixing the crashes is our top priority now. Additional things that are still in the works are the issue regarding not being able to place decoys (it is is related to what reserve that is being loaded first), also work regarding Geese getting stuck is progressing.

It is hard to estimate exactly when the fixes for these two issues will be available but we are doing everything in our power to target a release before the weekend. We will keep you updated on the progress!

If you are experiencing the problem of not being able to place decoys, a restart of your game (Exit to Desktop) and/or a restart of your computer has helped some people. If you have more information or questions regarding this, we recommend you check this thread. https://steamcommunity.com/app/518790/discussions/0/1696049513784910216/

Placing 20 decoys per interest area will give you very good chances of breaking a flock. Dismantling decoys to have less in the world has helped people with performance.

And finally don’t forget to update your drivers as some performance issues might stem for them being outdated.

Our work continues and we will have another update with progress for you tomorrow.

theHunter: Call of the Wild Team

Patch 1.20 (12 June 2018)

Geese, SXS Shotgun & more

Hello Hunters,

The first flying animal of theHunter: Call of the Wild, the Canada Goose, has arrived!

The newest addition to theHunter: Call of the Wild’s animal family brings a new and exciting hunting experience to the game. Jump into Hirschfelden and scout the skies for skeins (flocks) of Geese in their typical V-formation. Once you spot a flock, get out of sight and then use the new Canada Goose Short Reed caller to make them break formation and lure them to the ground. As always in hunting, patience is a virtue, so take your time and let them come close. If you manage to stay undetected, the Geese will land around you. Landing and take off, should you spook them after they have landed, are the prime opportunities to take a shot. . We do not recommend shooting geese high up in the air as this will spook the flock and most likely won’t hit the bird.

Alternatively, a new Layout blind and Canada Goose decoys allow you to set up the perfect hunting spot. The corn and straw fields are highly recommended as geese avoid landing in forests. The decoys, available in 3 different variations, increase your chances of successfully luring Geese to come to the ground while the layout blind offers better camouflage, overwatching the field. This allows you to lure down geese close to you, pop out of the blind and take aim.

However you choose to hunt geese, the new Strecker SXS 20G Shotgun, loaded with birdshot (also offers buck and slug) is a safe bet for ethical and high scoring hunting. The gun comes in four different variations. We hope you like it!

The Canada Goose and Canada Goose Short Reed caller are available for free with this update. The Strecker SXS 20G, Layout blind and Decoys are included in the new “Wild Goose Chase Gear” DLC. Upon purchase you will receive 5 of each decoy variation and one layout blind in the in-game storage, while the new gun along with the new ammunition is then unlocked in the in-game shop (no further cost). https://store.steampowered.com/app/854070/theHunter_Call_of_the_Wild__Wild_Goose_Chase_Gear?snr=1_2108_9__2107

There is a bundle available for discounts so make sure not to miss this one as it is only available for a limited time! https://store.steampowered.com/bundle/3745/?snr=1_2108_9__2107

Your feedback is crucial to us. You have been asking for bird hunting for a long time and today marks the beginning. We hope you are happy with the result and rest assured that we will take in your feedback and continue the work, not only on geese but on much more!

We addressed issues regarding placeable items and the beaver and hope that this improves the current situation, please let us know if you still encounter this issue!

Thank you for your ongoing support and happy hunting!

Patch 1.19 (12 April 2018)

The Jackrabbit (And New Weapon Pack 1 DLC)

Hello Hunters,

It’s an exciting day today, we have a two part PC release for you to enjoy!

First up we have our first small game animal to hit the reserves, the jackrabbit. The jackrabbit is the larger cousin to your typical cottontail rabbit, and prefers to live above ground rather than in burrows. Their sharp senses and lightning-fast speed are sure to give even the most experienced hunter a very new type of challenge!

Jackrabbits will be available to all players free of charge .

Our second part of today’s update consists of a new paid Weapon Pack DLC ($3.99/€3.99 or local equivalent). This new bundle contains a triple-threat of three new tools to fill out your hunting arsenal, the Virant .22LR Semi-Automatic Rifle, the Houyi Recurve Bow, and the Crosspoint CB-165 crossbow (and accompanying scope). From the snappy follow-up shots offered by the Virant, to the stealthy but hard-hitting punch of the Crosspoint CB-165, there’s all kinds of options available to you with these new weapons in your pack. And of course, there’s a variety of skins to choose from included as a part of the bundle.

We’ve had great fun putting together this new update, and we hope that you enjoy playing it as much as we have putting it together. As always, if you have any thoughts, comments, or feedback we would be very pleased to hear from you either on our Steam Community Hub or social media.

Patch 1.17 (1 March 2018)

Latern Festival

Hello Hunters,

During the last few months, we’ve been hard at work on integrations of our branches, which will allow for faster development and releases of new content in the future. While this is going to improve the experience for all players, our push to get it done has also meant a recent break in our continuous rollout of PC patches.

With this work mostly done, we are now aiming to once again pick up the pace with more frequent PC updates. This patch will lay down the groundwork for everything that is on the horizon.

This first update mainly focuses on changes “under the hood” in order to get ready for the next updates, including the previously announced Jackrabbit. That being said, some issues will be addressed in this patch already. Animal teleportation has been a big focus for us, and this patch aims to solve the “zipping” of animals. We will continue our work on areas that affect this unwanted animal behavior and aim to have more updates going forward.

All outposts now feature interiors and can thus be entered. This was already possible in Medved-Taiga and is now also available in Layton Lake and Hirschfelden. Enjoy those cozy log cabins!

This update also takes in improvements for user interface that have only been available on the console version so far.

Last but not least we invite everyone to celebrate the Lantern Festival with us on March 2. The Lantern Festival marks the end of the Chinese New Year spring festival period and is traditionally celebrated with family, friends, and of course, lanterns! For a limited time, you can find decorations at every outpost in the game, and we wish everybody good fortune!

As always you can find all changes below and do let us know your feedback!

Happy Hunting theHunter: Call of the Wild Team

KNOWN ISSUES:

Tents are appearing in the wrong locations in-game (too high/in the ground). We are currently working on a hotfix to address that, apologies for the inconvenience caused.

For the Chinese localized version of the client text is displaying incorrectly, this too is currently being addressed.

Features

  • As a part of Lantern Festival celebrations statues and lanterns can be found in the reserve. Limited time.

Gameplay

  • Animal teleportation and pathfinding has been improved. This should alleviate the current problem of “zipping” animals. We are continuing the work so expect further updates on this in the future

  • Default selection of starting reserve has been changed to Layton Lake

Patch 1.15 (29 November 2017)

Hello Hunters,

First, we want to welcome all new hunters that picked up the game during the autumn sale. Thank you very much for giving the game a go, and welcome!

Today’s patch is mostly about maintenance and small game improvements. Here’s some highlights:

  • Spotting animals in Multiplayer will now highlight the spotted animals for all players around the spotter. We hope this will make spotting more useful when playing with other hunters and are looking forward to your feedback.
  • The checks for animals getting stuck, especially at cliffs like the crater in the Medved-Taiga, have been improved. They should not simply disappear any longer.
  • We had some feedback from the community that the 12-gauge shotgun could give a little bit more “bang for your buck” (pun intended!), as such the 12-Gauge Buckshot’s damage has been increased per pellet and should pack a bigger punch now.

Additionally thanks to community reports the patch also features another round of fixes and improvements for missions - thank you very much for your consistent feedback and reporting!

As always, thank you very much for your feedback and let us know what you think about the latest changes. Scroll down for the full release notes.

Happy Hunting

theHunter: Call of the Wild Team

Hotfix 1.13.1

Hello Hunters,

This hotfix addresses issues regarding Bears freezing, critters not reacting to the player and abnormal animal behaviour.

Note: In order to enable us to deploy this patch for you as quickly as possible we have had to compromise slightly. The bears now move as they should and can be properly hunted once more, there IS however a small animation ‘tic’ present (can be seen when the bears rears up), this will be fixed with our next normal update. We felt that getting you all a speedy solution was more important than perfection in this particular case.

Gameplay

  • Bears no longer freeze when standing up
  • Critters no longer ignore the player

Stay tuned for more:

Fix for a multiplayer network de-sync that could cause animals to stand still and not react to player. This could happen if a player exited a multiplayer game to main menu, and then joined another multiplayer game.

Happy Hunting,

theHunter: Call of the Wild Team

Patch 1.11.1 (7 September 2017)

Hello Hunters,

Patch 1.11.1 is here and brings a number of new fixes to the game - we hope you’ll enjoy them! We have addressed one of the biggest issues concerning animal behavior and reactions not working as intended, sometimes making them move in a circle rather than fleeing or following a logical path. We also continued to work with a lot of your feedback to further improve the issue of disappearing tents. Please have a look at the list below for a detailed overview of all improvements introduced by this patch.

  • Fix for a crash when entering the southwest corner of Hirschfelden.
  • Fix for possible crash when a player leaves a multiplayer game while seated on an ATV.
  • Fix for network de-sync when players leave a multiplayer game, causing animals to stop reacting to players.
  • Fix for animals sometimes running in circles or not reacting to players.
  • Additional improvements for disappearing tents.
  • Fix for unlocalized item descriptions for bows in the store screen.
  • Fix for rain sounds stuttering near certain areas in the game.
  • Fix for a message about driving an ATV into the water showing for all players in a multiplayer game.

Let us know what you think about this hotfix in the Patch 1.11 feedback thread.

Happy Hunting,

theHunter: Call of the Wild Team

EDIT: The reason why the patch is 1.8GB is that we have re-modeled some parts of the landscape to fix related crashes. These changes are very heavy in file size.

Manual Reload and Chambering now allows for greater control over your shots and weapons. The resulting slightly reduced recoil will help you to better track the hit reactions of animals. You can find these two options in the Game settings.

The inventory system has been reworked with the aim to make it a lot more intuitive to use for both keyboards as well as game pads. Item highlighting, for example, will make it easier and much faster to get an overview of which equipment and ammunition are compatible with your carried weapons.

We’ve added additional fixes to disappearing tents and ground blinds, while also adding a check so that every player always has at least 5 tents and 5 ground blinds (counting across storage, inventory and placed in the world) owned at any time. We will monitor how this works - please let us know what you think in the feedback thread.

On top of the above mentioned, this patch introduces many more fixes such as temporal antialiasing (find it in the Graphics settings), balancing of missions, fixes for bleeding rates and animal behaviour, a new death sequence when the player dies, new animations for bears, automated codex entries when interacting with point of interests, and much more.

As always you can find the full list of changes below and we are looking forward to your feedback in the dedicated forum thread for Patch 1.11.

Happy Hunting

Patch 1.10 (17 August 2017)

Hello Hunters,

We're excited to finally release the first big patch after the summer break, introducing some major improvements to multiplayer as well as other areas of the game.

In general multiplayer updates can be challenging as testing them is complex. The issues can have several different reasons for happening and even though we feel confident enough to release the patch we will monitor game data, and your reports, to make sure that we catch any additional problems. As always, your feedback is very important to us and we are looking forward to it!

So what is new in Patch 1.10? Well, glad you asked! Progressing with friends is now more convenient, as all players in a multiplayer game are able to claim and unlock outposts, lookout towers and hunting structures. Additional improvements to host migration and networking will prevent issues like invincible animals, animals not spawning, equipment disappearing and more.

Some other highlights are customizable track colors (helpful for players suffering from deuteranopia i.e. red-green color blindness), a new chat window, new predator “distressed” caller and a new setting to hide the HUD. You can find the full patch notes below. We hope you enjoy the update and let us know what you think in the dedicated Patch 1.10 forum thread.

Happy Hunting!

theHunter: Call of the Wild Team

Multiplayer

  • All players in a multiplayer game are now able to claim and unlock outposts, lookout towers and hunting structures. Any outpost, lookout tower or hunting structure claimed by another player still needs to be claimed by you in order to use its functionality (e.g. resting, store, etc.) Structures that have been claimed by other players in a multiplayer session are now marked as “Ghost” models for better indication.
  • Your progress will be carried over to singleplayer and any future multiplayer game.
  • Improved updating of animal health in multiplayer
  • Overhauled host migration
  • Major improvements to network functionality in order to prevent random issues in multiplayer (e.g. invincible animals, animals not spawning, equipment disappearing and more)
  • Fixed issue where the heart rate indicator would not function properly when in multiplayer games.

We took a big sweep at multiplayer in this update, mostly focusing on how you play and progress together. These won’t be the last improvements in multiplayer as getting more data from you is very important for fixing and improving this aspect of the game. We will closely monitor the results to keep improving multiplayer.

  • Fixed a bug that caused weapons to pop in and out of the player’s hands

As mentioned in yesterday’s patch notes we have some more improvements to release today with patch 1.9.1.

Animals no longer think you are on an ATV after dismounting, as their vision was affected. We also introduced further improvements to the repopulation of animals, group behaviour specifically.

Tents should no longer disappear and we are working on a solution to compensate for lost ones. More information regarding this will follow soon, we want to make sure that nothing gets lost.

Trophy integrity now only calculates first hits when using weapons shooting multiple projectiles such as shotguns.

Time and weather will now only save for the host and will work correctly in multiplayer.

We are very happy to see a lot of feedback about the recently released ATV along with footage of your adventures - thank you for creating so much entertaining content!

Today, we roll out patch 1.9 with some subtle improvements.

On some occasions a vehicle might not be the best option when hunting. Upon creating a multiplayer game, you can now select whether ATVs are permitted or not. A new UI icon will display this when browsing multiplayer games so you can choose what type of hunt you want to go for.

Scope crosshairs are now centered and gamepad sensitivity has been improved.

Scoreboard as well as harvest screen have received a ‘beauty treatment’ and a codex entry has been added for the ATV to look up controls and more.

Additional improvements for ATV audio volume, animal senses, repopulation as well as disappearing tents are being tested and we aim to roll them out as soon as possible!

As always, let us know your feedback and what you think in the dedicated forum thread.

Happy Hunting!

Patch 1.8 (14 June 2017)

Hello Hunters,

Before we bring you the ATV DLC - which will be out soon - we wanted to release a patch to fix issues that have been of concern to the community.

Patch 1.8 introduces the new outposts in both Hirschfelden and Layton Lake while also updating the animal respawn system. This fixes the exploit near Lake Kraken too. Please note that this will remove your discovered need zones. The empty tutorial box that got stuck after harvesting an animal has been fixed as well.

After releasing the Shooting Range, players requested improved feedback for shot placement and we are happy to release this feature as well. The terrain on low-quality settings will also no longer obstruct targets, and buttons can only be used from within the control room.

Multiplayer is high on our list of improvement areas, and this patch introduces some first steps, but you can expect more of this in the future. Bullet trajectories and scopes are now correctly synchronized in multiplayer, so you will see exactly where shots of other players land, for all weapons. We made additional changes to how your rewards are communicated when you harvest an animal of a shared takedown. Instead of showing the total rewards, you will now see the rewards you receive based on your participation. Filtering multiplayer games by distance now works correctly and the default amount of players when creating a multiplayer session has been increased to 8.

The previously announced adjustments to Tents & Ground Blinds roll out with this patch. Purchasing the Tents & Ground Blinds DLC from now on will grant 5 tents and 5 ground blinds, while players who bought additional tents and / or ground blinds beforehand, will be refunded their in-game currency, corresponding to a maximum of 5 tents and 5 ground blinds.

This is not all, as we made balance changes to missions, aiming to make them fairer to complete. As always, you can find the full list below and we are looking forward to your feedback while continuing to improve the game.

Let us know what you think about the changes in our dedicated forum thread and we look forward to bringing you the ATV DLC shortly.

Happy Hunting!

theHunter: Call of the Wild Team

Patch 1.64 (8 May 2017)

Hotfix

Hello Hunters,

Today we are releasing a small hotfix to address the issue of tent markers remaining visible and usable on the map after dismantling a tent. This should no longer be the case now.

Have a good start into the new week,

theHunter: Call of the Wild Team

Fixed:

  • Tent markers will no longer be visible after dismantling a tent.

Patch 1.63 (5 May 2017)

Hello Hunters,

With patch 1.62, a new issue appeared which in some cases would make already discovered outposts and points of interest disappear from players’ maps. This would also lead to fast travel options not being available anymore for affected players. The issue has now been resolved. A second issue we fixed with this patch is crashes of the game when using the fast travel option of tents. Unfortunately this has introduced a minor graphical bug where the marker of a tent will stay visible on the map even after dismantling it. The marker will disappear after restarting the game and we’re looking into it already.

We are also aware that some players are reporting the loss of their purchased tents and ground blinds from their inventories and storage spaces. We’re already working on a solution for this issue which we will implement as soon as possible.

For more information on existing bugs please see the bug collection thread created by community member Valkenswaard. Our development team monitor it on a daily basis and we’re working on fixes for known issues for the next few major patches.

Have a great weekend,

theHunter: Call of the Wild Team

Fixed:

  • Discovered POI and Outposts will no longer disappear
  • Fast travel to tents no longer causes a crash

Patch 1.6 (18 April 2017)

Hello Hunters,

We hope you’ve had a great Easter weekend with your family and friends. Hopefully you had time for some gaming as well. And as a belated Easter gift - here is Patch 1.6!

This week we've got some exciting fixes and new DLC in store for you (see separate post regarding the latter). As we mentioned in Patch 1.5, we pushed the 'Exit to main menu' button out a bit due to other fixes taking priority, but we're happy to announce that the option is now available in the game menu.

In previous patches we’ve put a strong focus on the stability and overall performance optimization of the game, and we will continue to do so. With great help from our community, we have tracked down and fixed an issue that would cause the scope zeroing of the .338 and 7mm rifles to be inaccurate when fired in crouched position.

Another issue we noticed is that the 'Death on spawn' bug was not fixed for all players after Patch 1.5 was released, as we continued to receive reports of it happening. This update should ensure that ‘Death on spawn’ is now part of history.

You can read the full list of fixes below - we look forward to reading your feedback and comments regarding the patch in the comment section and the [https://steamcommunity.com/app/518790/discussions/0/133262848299662535/?snr=1_2108_9__2107

Patch 1.5 (5 April 2017)

Hello Hunters,

We’re excited to release patch 1.5 today! In this update we will be addressing a number of issues such as the animal path finding maps, animals freezing and the ‘death on login’ bug a number of players were experiencing.

The consecutive harvest bonus now carries over in single player games and we aim for the same in multiplayer, but it will require some more work before being released.

Our focus on improving stability continues with additional crash fixes as well as graphics optimizations that include changes to in-game graphics such as shadows and shaders.

We are aware that some of you are really keen on having the ‘Exit to main menu’ button in-game but we’ve decided to prioritize game stability and bug fixing for now. However, since it’s been discussed in the forum, we wanted to let you know that it is indeed not forgotten, and we plan on including this into the game as soon as it is finalized.

Also, a special thank you goes out to player ‘Valkenswaard’ who has set up and maintains the [https://steamcommunity.com/app/518790/discussions/5/133258092257803156/?snr=1_2108_9__2107

Patch 1.41 (29 March 2017)

Hello Hunters,

In this patch, we’re addressing additional improvements for stability and user interface.

The issue of “ghost” clicks, which would alter menu settings (even after closing them), has now been resolved. Thank you for reporting the issue and helping us find a solution. The multiplayer menu has received a small update as we have added a confirmation message before starting competitions or kicking other players from your multiplayer game. We have also fixed a number of crashes.

Rest assured that bug fixes and content releases will keep coming. They will not be impacted by the recently announced console version as this is handled by separate teams within the company. To keep improving the stability, polish and overall experience of this version is - and will continue to be - our dedicated PC team's highest priority.

Thank you all for your continued support and for sharing constructive feedback with us, we really appreciate it! As always, you can find the list of fixes below to get the full overview

Happy Hunting,

theHunter: Call of the Wild Team

  • Fix for crash when shooting an animal while having an active mission
  • Additional improvements for freezes

Patch 1.4 (23 March 2017)

Hello Hunters,

Patch 1.4 is out now, so let’s have a look at some of the highlights.

Gameplay We started to address issues with animals being stuck and frozen. This is the first iteration and we will continue to improve this part of the game. Additionally, a couple of issues have been addressed to make playing the game a smoother experience. Imperial and metric systems have been fixed, so now you can carry the same regardless of system. Aiming with bows will no longer cause scope glitches. You will no longer be hurt when spawning close to other players. Weapon and item sounds no longer vanish after switching items multiple times. Lastly on the gameplay side of things, shotgun score awards as well as incorrect magazine size have been fixed.

User Interface The mirrored custom waypoint is no more, truncated and cut off localization texts have been improved and the tracking cone on the minimap now correctly scales based on your skill.

Stability We introduced the first changes to address “freezing” issues. This issue remains our highest priority, and we will continue to work on it. A host of different crashes have been fixed as well and we will continue to monitor stability after the patch. The multitude of different hard- and software set ups is always a challenge, but we are committed to continuously improve stability.

As always, you can find the list of fixes below to get the full overview and we are looking forward to your feedback.

Patch 1.3 (15 March 2017)

Hello Hunters,

Patch 1.3 has just been released, so let’s have a look at what’s inside.

Skills & Perks Re-specialisation You can now reset your spent skills and perk points to better customize your character. Choosing the right skills and perks is vital for every hunter, so there is a cost attached to resetting your points. We hope you like the addition of this feature and are looking forward to your feedback.

Exit to Main Menu Our intention was to bring an “Exit to Main Menu” option to the game with today’s patch but it is unfortunately not ready yet. We are aware that this feature is requested, we just need a bit more time to guarantee that it works flawlessly.

Freezes, Clues and Stability We optimized the clue system to improve performance, as well as eliminate disappearing clues and crashes. Work will continue in this area, so please let us know your feedback regarding the new version.

Better data collection has been added in case of freezes which will help us to get the information we need. Freezes will most likely result in crashes now, and that information will be sent to us so we can work on fixing them permanently.

Screen space reflections are now enabled by default for “medium” and “low” graphics settings. This should help players who have trouble starting the game. You can still disable this option in the graphics settings for better performance (it affects water reflections).

Ammunition has undergone another round of tweaking and costs have been decreased.

As always, you can find the list of fixes below to get the full overview. We’ll continue our work and talk to you soon again!

Happy Hunting,

theHunter: Call of the Wild Team

Patch 1.21 (3 March 2017)

Hello Hunters,

We just released a small update to address a crash related to multiplayer mode, after releasing Patch 1.2 earlier today.

We’ll continue to monitor and let you know if there are further updates.

Happy Hunting,

theHunter: Call of the Wild Team

Patch 1.2 (3 March 2017)

Hello Hunters,

It’s our second week post-launch and it’s time for Patch 1.2.

While continuously working on bug fixes, crashes and performance improvements, we also track all the great feedback that you keep providing, which is of big help to us! We look forward to hearing your thoughts regarding the latest changes we have made - for example the slower stalking speed while crouching (with keyboard controls).

In addition we want to thank you for the consistent and fantastic support you give each other in our Steam forums. Be sure to visit there for ‘unofficial’ community fixes and work around solutions until official patches come along.

One thread we wanted to highlight was started by community member “Sento” as he couldn’t start the game and player "Slackard" provided a suggestion that might help other players, too. You can find Slackard’s suggestion on top in our technical troubleshooting sticky post:

http://steamcommunity.com/app/518790/discussions/4/133258092236941314/

Finally, we just wanted to give a general piece of advice to keep your graphic drivers up to date. Crash reports on our end indicate that there are some outdated drivers out there so make sure to check that you have the latest version running on your machine.

Patch 1.02 (17 February 2017)

Hello Hunters,

Here is another update from our side as we address the issues that you mention and report.

Once more we want to say thank you for your support, reporting these issues to us and of course for playing theHunter: Call of the Wild. It’s great to see the wonderful screenshots, videos and achievements from the community and we are working on solutions to improve the game and performance for our players.

Next to the smaller updates from today and yesterday, there is a bigger patch on its way. We can’t give you a final release date yet as testing is still in progress but we plan to release it very soon.

Today’s update includes:

  • Fix for “Invite to game” feature on Steam that would ultimately lead to a crash
  • Crash fix for hovering over specific icons in the map
  • Crash fix for ragdoll synchronization for spawned animals
  • Disabled joining friends in multiplayer games when the game is not running
  • Miscellaneous crash fixes

Additionally, there is a partial fix for joining friends in multiplayer. As long as the game is running, you will be able to join a friend’s game via the Steam functionality. Please make sure your friends have the game running when sending invites to play via Steam.

If you don’t have the game running and join a game after the update, you will only start the game.

We are also working together with AMD to investigate and fix any hardware related issues that were reported by our players.

And finally, there are work-around solutions to some problems until we can fix them for good:

Keybindings

You can manually adjust your keybindings outside of the game by doing the following:

  • Disable cloud saving on Steam (Properties -> Updates -> Untick Steam Cloud Synchroni*zation)
  • Go to Documents\Avalanche Studios\theHunter Call of the Wild\Saves open your save folder
  • Open “keymap.json” with a text editor of your choice (e.g. Notepad)
  • Manually adjust keybindings
  • Save file and start the game (keeping cloud save disabled until you have started it once)

Return to Game from Settings menu

  • Hovering over any of the main menu icons on the left side of the screen and then pressing ESC will return you to the game.

Thanks again and happy hunting!

Stefan
